Do you feel as though your home is looking a little bit drab? Maybe you want to spruce things up a little bit but you have no idea where to start. Either way, making changes to your home can be difficult when you are on a budget, but if you follow this guide, you should be able to turn things around in no time at all.

Revamp your Upholstery

If you have an old ottoman that doesn’t have any buttons or complex stitching then it’s very easy for you to give it a bit of a fabric update. All you have to do is invest in a staple gun and some good-quality fabric.

Cut it to size, and then turn the ottoman over. When you have done this, you need to pull the fabric as tight as you can, making sure that the pattern is straight. You can then secure it on the underside by using the staple gun. You can even take things one step further by choosing to repaint or restain the legs in a different color, before putting it all back together again.

Make a Picture Gallery

If you have a wall that is crying out for a bit of adornment then battens are great. You can use them to create a fresh display and when you do, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to display your artwork or photographs. Use long wooden battens where possible as this will be wide enough to support the weight of your frames. You then need to fix them to the wall so that they can carry the weight without any issues.

Embrace Upcycling

If possible, you need to troll junk shops so you can find beaten down, old furniture. This is a great way for you to create something nice for your home. Vintage fruit and vegetable crates really do make the best bedside tables. Be sure to pick out a crate that isn’t rickety at all, and make sure that there are no nails jutting out. If you can do this and then buy some antique-style decorations to go alongside it, you will soon see that you can make a major difference to your home.

Create an Open Shelving Moment

A display of either clear or colored glassware can really add a lot of visual interest to your home. Opt for shelving instead of having wall cupboards if you can. The main reason for this is because it will lift your kitchen and it will also help to make it less ordinary. Opt for wooden shelving that is painted the same color as the walls, or even use bare scaffolding planks if you want to opt for a more urban twist. By doing this, you can make sure that everything looks natural and rustic, but at the same time, you open up a lot of potential in regards to the look and feel of your home.
