If you are just starting your venture into designing your home and you’re looking for the right place to start, start at your entryway. The Entry. The first and last impression of your home. So, as I was searching for inspiration on this particular design vignette, I came across this quote:
“If we have trouble using something then it’s probably because that thing is badly designed, rather than us being stupid.”
— DMITRY FADEYEV
So instead of trying to find the perfect match for a milk pail, or what floral arrangement might be the best bang for your buck, I got down and REAL about what core elements would make your entryway a timeless farmhouse design, while not costing an arm and a leg to do so.
…I tell you, sometimes the hardest thing to do as a designer practicing in the field is staying under BUDGET. There are so many essentials that have to go into a space, along with the gorgeous things that you know would complete the beauty but cost OH so much. So I’m quite proud of myself for finding these gems, all on Amazon mind you, so you can get them shipped right to your door. I love Amazon.
WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, let’s create your farmhouse entryway masterpiece.
Windmill Wall decal that can go over your entry door. $30 I love this over-the-door piece, but you can also complete the half-moon to make completely circular on the wall adjacent your front door.
Two by Six rustic authentic runner. $40 You could always do a larger rug, it’s just more expensive and depends on the size of your entryway. This is a great floor-space-filler and can be an anchor for that sofa table you set your keys on when you walk through the door.
Let others know where your heart belongs with these custom state framed images. $15 Also, makes a cheap housewarming gift to a new neighbor or friend who is moving.
This light can be clustered with two different sized diameters, or be a simple beautiful single statement. $30. It is seriously SO hard to find classy, perfect lighting at this price.
A place to put those shoes that cleans the clutter and doesn’t look too messy. $25
$4 decor pillows… These are cheaper than the tacky Walmart pillows I came across the other day while grocery shopping. Just saying. Start here on your journey to beautiful throw pillows at a fraction of the cost.
Quick, simple and OOBER cheap. I just might get in trouble with the interior design gods over this… A complete farmhouse entry for under $150. If you’re interested in a custom design for your home, please contact me! I live for these things. Til then, happy designing!
